Special Journal Club Session: Critique a Systematic Scoping Review

Facilitated by Dr. Terry Klassen, this one hour session proceed through the concepts of methodically critiquing a systematic scoping review. Dr. Klassen is a world-renowned expert in the field of systematic reviews. He is the Founder of the Cochrane Child Health section of the Cochrane Collaboration and the Founding Director of Alberta Research Centre for Health Evidence (ARCHE), a major contributor of systematic review research in child health.  The Classic Pita Buffet will be the menu for the lunch: $10/ MAHIP members; $15/non-members.  Vegetarian diet requirements are accounted for in the menu.  Please RSVP your attendance NO LATER THAN Thursday February 9, 2012  4:30 pm to janet_rothney@umanitoba.ca  Total participant count is required for catering purposes.  The session will commence at 12 pm so please arrive between 11:30 am and 12 pm.

Dr. Klassen will open the session with a definition of a scoping review, how it compares to a “regular” systematic review and possible implications in critiquing approach. The closest review model remains the Users’ Guides Critical Appraisal Worksheet for Systematic Review.
